Quick Overview #
CasaXPS is an incredibly powerful software with many many individual functions. Navigating the software can be daunting at first, but once you learn a handful of operations, data analysis quickly becomes straightforward!
We start here with a guide to the software layout.
Toolbars #
CasaXPS has 4 main operator options panels. These can be viewed and toggled using the ‘View’ dropdown menu on the top menu.
Toolbar: Data operator menus. This is where the data analysis windows can be found.
Options bar: Toggle views, turn components on and off, view and edit file metadata.
SIMS bar: For analysing TOF-SIMS data.
Status bar: Information only.
Display Parameters (F6) #
Using the display parameters window, opened using the toolbar menu, you can customise how your CasXPS data window looks. Change colours, fonts, backgrounds and more.
Quantify (F7) #
The quantify window is where you will spend most of your time in CasaXPS. From here we can create backgrounds, develop peak models, and quantify our data analysis.
We can toggle quantification regions, backgrounds, and peak models using the options toolbar.
Processing (F8) #
The processing window is where we can apply energy calibrations, smooth and differentiate data, and perform many other transformations. You can always undo your processing operators using the processing history menu.
Tile Annotation (F9) #
In tile annotation, you can add peak and region information, and custom text to your spectra for reports and figures.
Library (F10) #
In the library window, standard peak information can be found. Energy lines can be looking up by clicking on the spectrum directly, or peak markers added using the periodic table tab. This is also where we load our quantification libraries using the input file tab.
Viewing Sample Information #
Sample information can be viewed using the EDIT MODE button on the options toolbar. Clicking this will toggle sample name on/off.
Block info, and block comment, will also give metadata about the sample in question.
